Sunday was Matchday 2 for the senior boys team and also their first game in Division 1.
After winning Division 2 and being promoted, the team was in it to weigh their chances of getting top tier in the new league. It was a great game to watch and was not short of action.
Being an away game, the team was starving for a win but could not maneuver their way to a goal. Despite great build up play and creating myriad chances, the LYFA team was held to a 0-0 draw by Young Pirates. The team are now focusing their energies on the next fixture in which they will be facing Livingstone Pirates.
The Under-20 team were playing an away game against 217 United in the Livingstone amateur league.
The boys went into the match eager to move up the table in the league standings. The home team had other ideas as they were able to score two successive goals in the firsts half.
After a hard fought second half with wasted chances, the lads were held to a 2-0 score line in favor of 217 United. The boys next fixture this Saturday will be against Nyazabili.
The Livingstone 7-aside Youth League is now in its second week and is keeping the younger boys working hard. The league is a platform for U14, U12 and U10 boys and girls to learn not only football but adaptability, leadership skills and peace building by observing football fundamentals such as fair-play.
The little league has captured 8 boys teams in Livingstone and coaches are now building girls teams in order to have a similar league for girls inclusion.
