After being defeated by Young Pirates at their home ground, LYFA was more than eager to repay the favor on Sunday when they traveled to Kalomo for the return fixture.
Owing to lessons learnt from their previous encounter, LYFA made some tactical changes to the starting line up replacing Jeff Mulao in the right back position with Chris Ngandu. This change was made on a ‘pace basis’ as the Pirates team had fast running strikers.
The game started with lots of action and the first incident of the game was a foul against Pirates in the 4th minute of the game. The first real scoring chance came for LYFA in the 8th minute when Lawrence Mungala was ruled off side after coming one on one with the keeper.
LYFA pushed on and was able to score the only goal of the match in the 19th minute when Chimuka Mainza slotted home a parried cross that landed conveniently in front of him.
Pirates edged on for most of the match winning free kicks in dangerous positions that were not capitalized. The visiting team was able to hold on to their lead until the blowing of the final whistle of the match. The game ended 1-0 in favor of LYFA. 7
LYFA retain their first position on the league standings and now 5 points clear of runners up East Lands.
