The Livingstone Youth Football Academy yesterday went into full swing with all competing level academies playing their first league games.
The ladies team yesterday kicked off their first league match just a week after their U-15 counterparts started their league, the first of its kind in Livingstone. Following the female fraternity being in leagues, the U-20 male academy (playing in Livingstone District Amateur Football Association [LIDAFA] league) also kicked off their league yesterday.
The LYFA home ground was overwhelmed with 3 matches being played on the same day. The day’s inaugural game was played by the U-15 girls who played Rockets Football Academy in a goal less draw. The ladies team played next in a thrilling 2-0 victory against Rockets. The LYFA ladies were able to find the back of the net in the second half after playing a disappointing goal less first 45 minutes.
After months of no game time, the U20 team were eager to perform and prove themselves fit for the senior team. The game however ended in a goal less draw with both sides walking away with 1 point apiece.
Lots of action this weekend for LYFA with all three teams seeing league action this Saturday while the senior men’s team plays on Sunday away to Musanza Police in Choma.
