Tackle Africa uses the power and popularity of football to deliver sexual health education to young people on football pitches across the continent. The initiative trains coaches to use fun, interactive football drills with inbuilt health messaging. The message teaches young people within clubs and communities about sexual health and HIV/AIDS awareness.
This year’s Tackle Africa program is set to begin on 17 February. Our coaches will undergo intensive training to prepare them for the task at hand. After the week long training program, our coaches will be targeting schools in which they will educate the kids about sexual health and HIV/AIDS.
After the training in various schools, an inter-school tournament will be held. To see which school learnt the most. During the tournament, pitch side counselling and HIV testing will be conducted.
The coaches are eager to begin and so are the kids. The soccer drills with embedded sexual education are a key part of the program that make it fun and interactive for the youths while they learn about their health and play their favorite sport.
